I struggled to update my terramaster it came up with an error. Told me to re install now I cannot install. Have tried a new drive but install just times out. Can someone help?
What version of PMS are you attempting to install?
I have limited experience with it but will help however I can
Same issue here. I logged into my Terramaster NAS and got an app update notification. I tried to update Plex and got an āInstall error - Please uninstall and reinstallā message.
Iāve now uninstalled the Plex app via the Terramaster app store and now it wonāt reinstall at all.
PMS app - Version 1.14.1.5488
Update:
I managed to fix this by doing the following:
-
Uninstall the Terramaster PMS app via the TNAS app store.
-
Shutdown the NAS from the TOS desktop menu.
-
Restart the Terramaster NAS by manually pressing the power button.
-
Log back into the TOS desktop
-
Install PMS via the Terramaster app store, click the install button only once and wait. The app store will show no sign of activity of download or installation, but wait and it will eventually install and the Plex icon will appear on the TOS desktop.
-
Double-click on the Plex icon, select enable Plex and click on āApplyā.
Hereās the downside, this update/reinstall, (at least for me), wiped my entire Plex library and plugins. Iām now going through the lengthy process of having to rescan all my media back into Plex.
PMS app - Version 1.14.1.5488
Exact same thing happened to me! I was running Plex on a F2-220 with two 5TB drives and everything was working fine. Got the notice that there was an update to Plex Server and clicked update. BIG mistake.
Have been in contact with Terra-Master support and they said that they are aware of the problem and working on a fix. Hopefully that will be soon.
@8biternie - how long did you have to wait from when you clicked āinstallā till when you actually had a functioning Plex server on your NAS??
My drives ended up not working because I tried resetting the Nas. I donāt recommend this.
After clicking on install it took about 3 minutes before the Plex icon appeared on the TOS desktop. As I posted before once Plex was reinstalled it did wipe out my Plex library and plugins, (just the database of the library not the actual media files), so I had to rescan all my media back into Plex.
When I tried I left for half an hour an it came up with an error message something 500 error. I only managed to be able to click install mind once I told the box to do a factory reset.
For those still having problems with installing/updating the Plex Media Server on your TOS 4.09 NAS here is the email I received from Terra-Master support last night:. I have been in email contact with them for a couple of days concerning this problem:
There should be no problem to download and install the appās now. Please try and let us know.
If you are still unable to download the appās, please manually upgrade the TOS to V4.0.13.
You may download the V4.0.13 here:
https://dl.terra-master.com/cn/TOS_S2.0_Update_JM33_4.0.13_VN200.bz2
I was able to install the Plex Media Server (1.14.1.5488) successfully although with a curious thing - after clicking āinstallā on the Plex server in the Terra-Master App Store window I received absolutely NO indication that the update had downloaded, was installing, nor had completed the installation. I did NOT get the Plex icon on the TOS desktop. The only reason I discovered that everything proceeded well was I got a text from my son saying that he was glad that I got Plex working again (I share libraries with him).
Anyway, I though I would mention it if it happens to anyone else and they think that the install/update failed. Try logging in to your Plex server and see what happens.
Hope this helps someone . . .
I followed your instructions and successfully installed PMS. The curious thing is I DID NOT lose any of my metadata at all! All the info for my movies, TV shows, music, and other videos remained intact. I know this doesnāt help you but I wanted to let everyone know that it happened. Hopefully other people will not experience any loss.
I also just posted the reply I got from Terra-Master support about this situation.
Again, thanks for your help in getting me up and running again.
I got back up and running by putting new drives in but the previous drives I think I upset the TOS somehow as it no longer boots into them. Never mind. Hopefully updating from now will work. I shall have to check if working by logging into the Plex server in future to save a lot of messing. I am now getting a new external drive to store my library on so I donāt loose it all again though.
Just as a matter of interest does anyone know how to read RAID 0 drives outside of the NAS so I can see if I can get my library back? Looked at it and it shows as two drives and says admin access only so not sure how to get them to show as one??
I have no idea, doing a quick google search it doesnāt seem impossible to recover data from RAID 0.
Personally I would never run RAID 0 on a NAS, especially if you are storing stuff on there that youāre not prepared to lose or you donāt have separate backup.
A much better option is to run RAID 1 and invest in bigger drives. At least with RAID 1 in the event one drive fails or you need to do a full reset then your data should be intact at least on one drive.
I followed the instructions and was able to update manually update to TOS V4.0.13 and PMS version 1.14.15488.
A couple of things I noticed. The PMS update on a Terramaster F2-420 from the built in Terramaster App took FOREVER to install. It was about 30 minutes before the installation was completed, so you have to be REALLY patient and let the install complete. I tried to install this numerous times and I guess I was waiting long enough. There should be a light colored progress bar over the PMS app and it may seem like it isnāt moving, but it isā¦albeit at a snailās pace.
Also, I too lost ALL of my metadata from all of the content stored on the drive. I even had to add the libraries back. Thankfully none of the content was lost, but it is a bit of a pain to re-create titles, descriptions, etc. So please be aware this could be a potential reason not to upgrade right away until the bugs are worked out
Lastly, I even with the latest update, I am still having issues with buffering on 4k content. I am hoping this will be resolved in a future release.
Thanks to everyone who posted their experience which I am sure others like myself will find extremely helpful.
Yeah, Iām having issues as well with the 1.14.15488 update.
I have a wired gigabit network and never had issues with Plex in the past, since the update I get occasional buffering on 1080p content and constant buffering with any media with subtitles.
Since updating PMS to 1.14.15488 the Plex client on my Samsung TVās has gone from being really responsive to being laggy, almost like itās constantly waiting for the PMS to catch up.
thanks it fixed my issue
Same thing for me, I get Multiple playback errors when I use plex on my ROKU TV only. when I cast videos from the app to my chromecast, I have no playback errors.
I installed the 4.0.13 version of TOS and the last version of PLEX (1.14.1.5488), now plex is useless, multiple playback errors, video buffering, even in 480p qualityā¦very anoying. Cannot downgrade to previous version
Did you find a solution?
I see a new pms update available in the ap store. Has anyone tried it? In the past , Iāve had to rebuild my libraries every time Iāve updated. Iād really like to avoid that.
