TerraMaster NAS F4-220, Plex update fails... 'disbaled' (PIC)

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1913
Player Version#:

Upon logging into the NAS, I noticed that there was an update available for Plex, so like I have in the past, I clicked on the Update button. It took about 30 mins and then… didn’t update. It actually showed only an “Install” button at that point. Odd. So I rebooted the NAS and when it comes back up, it shows the “Update” button again, but also shows the “disabled” label. If I click “Update”, again, it does the same thing as before. I can’t update it and I can’t “enable” it.

Thoughts?

I have the same issue with Terramaster F2-220. PLEX FORUM please help !!!

Having the same issue here. NOT HAPPY AT ALL, I will never update again.
The money I have paid for TERRAMASTER and PLEX arent being fruitfull one bit.
Can someone please help ?

Thank you

Got a similar Plex update problem. TOS told me there was a Plex server update then it disappeared never to be seen again. Is there some way of finding a download file to match the Terramaster from Plex and installing it manually like on every other server that Plex list?

I’ve been having similar issues too recently - update Plex and server became unreachable, restarted the TNAS, and reboot was taking in excess of 45mins. Eventually gave up and re-installed Plex server (Libraries are now populated, but a massive chore to reset the ‘watch’ status!). Still had issues, so got in touch with Terramaster earlier today…advice was to manually install a TOS update to 4.1.09 (I was on 4.1.03). Update took about 5mins. Then installed a Plex update (appeared overnight). So far all good again (reboot time is about a minute, and Plex client connects to server (App is indicating vers 1.18.0.1913, Client is indicating vers 1.18.1.2019)

How do you manually update Plex Amphy? I know how to install a file manually from TOS but there isn’t a TOS version of Plex available on the list of server updates on Plex website.

The Plex ‘update’ appeared in the “Applications” app/store. The manual update I installed was for TOS only. I don’t know of any way to install App’s manually on the TNAS.

(I updated Plex again today (Weds 21/11/19) and now it will not start at all (pop-up error message “operation failed!”), and the icon has disappeared from the desktop screen. I’ve logged it with TM support so hopefully they’ll offer up a solution shortly - I really don’t want to spend another 2 days re-populating my libraries after only 10 days…!)

Oh okay. so you didn’t do a manual update of Plex server itself? Just the TOS. There are Plex server downloads for other NAS devices, like Netgear, Seagate etc. but it looks like the only way to update Plex on the Terramaster is by their own updates. I would much prefer to control these updates myself.

Correct - as originally stated, I updated Plex and manually updated TOS.
I know what you mean about surrendering some control, but in fairness, TM aren’t too shabby at releasing the updates - and you have control of whether you choose to install them or not (so at least they’re not forced/mandatory), and the support is usually pretty swift too (albeit sometimes with a bit of jetlag!) which is borne from the validated app’s.
If you want more control, try SSH- into the NAS and ‘sideloading’, or rooting it with another linux deb.
As my unit is still in warranty, I’ll be sticking with the supported features for now…

Thanks for the detailed advice there Amphy. I think I’ll keep things simple and go with the TM updates. I have noticed though that since I updated the TOS to 4.1.09-2921 that Plex updates have been installing without any intervention from me. Not sure whether this is good or bad!

I have the same problem with my F2-220, I just instaled the last version of TOS, the V4.1.13-1911281758, then PLEX is not booting anymore. I unistalled the app, closed the NAS completely, reboot the NAS, then reinstalled the PLEX app via the NAS appstore. It took very long time to install PLEX completely (from 50% to 100%, soooooo lonnng). Once the installation completed, PLEX is not able to START…
