Plex server version 1.26.2.5797 new media has a release date of December xx, 1899

Since updating to Plex server version 1.26.2.5797 all new media added to the server is posting a release date of December xx, 1899. The day is variable, but the month and the year are constants. Anyone else having the same issue? When I run date on the server it is reporting the correct date and time.

I re-tagged this as server-linux since my issue along with redairforce is on Ubuntu.

I’d like to bump this up. Both of my servers are Ubuntu and after the last Plex MS update all new stuff is getting marked Dec 31, 1899 or January 1, 1900. If this goes on for more than a week, things are gonna get aweful messy in there.

Same issue here, all new TV shows show a release date of some time December 1899. All other metadata is there.
Server version 1.26.2.5797
Unraid v6.10 with Linuxserver Plex docker container

I can also confirm downgrade to 1.26.1.x and then refresh metadata fixes the date.

Just loaded the new Plex server version 1.26.2.5797.
My movies will not match any online medadata.

Having the same issue with this version - same as other poster, a downgrade and refresh fixes the meta data, but once back on this version any new media does the same thing.

Same story for me – loads of newly added media showing as added in 1899.

Did they really just let this version go live beyond Plex Pass? wth @Plex…

What agents are y’all using?

Does this affect TV, Music, Movies?

Can you show some examples?

There’s been a change in how dates are stored, and some date-related issues, I’m not aware of anything so dramatic.

Impacts web, iOS and tvOS (all my clients). Using the default Plex agents.

Rolling back the server and refreshing the metadata fixes it.

The issues isn’t the agents. If you are having this issue just roll back to version 1.26.1.5798 or earlier. After you roll back refresh the metadata and it will be fixed. This probably is a bug introduced when they fixed * (EPG) Original air dates could be imported with incorrect time zone offsets (#13533) in the 1.26.2.5797 version.

Seems we’ve at least upgraded to 1900 now… I rolled back to public version instead of Plex Pass but today got the 1.26.2.5797 update again and first new media to be added is not right.

I re-posted this to the standard support forum hoping someone at Plex actually looks at it this time…

We’ve tracked down the year 1899/1900 bug. It should only affect you if you have “Prefer local metadata” enabled on the library. Disabling this option in the library settings and refreshing the affected media should fix it.

99% of the time you should not need this setting enabled. It’s only really required for power users who manually curate their own metadata tags in mp4 files.

We’re looking at a fix for those users who rely on this setting.

FYI I never enabled this. It’s turned on but must have been a default.

It shouldn’t be the default unless you previously had the library set up using one of the legacy agents (and had local media assets ordered above the primary agent) and upgraded to the new agent.

Possibly, but I definitely never configured or used local assets. My Plex libraries are many years old at this point.

I would like to make a suggestion that as part of this solution you point us to documentation on how to do this. I have been using the same configuration and database for almost a 10 years. So it might not be on by default for “NEW” installations it was a one point so those of us with old configurations are going to run into this issue. I have figured out how to make this change, but others might not.

Turning off the local asset setting seems to have also had a side benefit. I’d never get season images for TV shows, always like season 1 showing up. Now that I disabled local asset and refreshed metadata, I’m getting more accurate cover images for episodes in tv series depending on the season.

That option should be explicitly off unless you have an absolute need to use it.

It is off by default for any new libraries.

For those of us who use this setting, any idea when the fix will be coming?
