Plex Server Version Updates DSM 7

Hello! Thanks in advance for info. I have a question concerning updates on my plex server.

Through the web browser server settings, I will usually check for updates or see a notification that an update is available. I then download from there and install. I recently updated to DSM 7 on my DS920+ and migrated my plex server over using 1.23.4.4712 from the plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ page. I have no issues and appreciate your work on getting this functional under DSM 7.

I was just messing around today and noticed that version 1.23.4.4775 is available on the plex.tv downloads page. My web browser settings page shows that 1.23.4.4712 is up to date and no updates are available when clicking on check for updates.

Why does the plex server not find any updates, but the plex.tv download page show a new version? I’m just curios as to why they aren’t the same. Should I just wait until the server tells me there is a newer version available or occasionally check the downloads page for more up to date versions?

What Server update channel is set in Settings > [Server Name] > General?
If this is set to public your server will only inform you about new public releases (while 1.23.4.4712 and 1.23.4.4775 are beta releases).

Ok, I see! It was set to public. I didn’t realize the download page offered beta versions. Is version 1.23.3.4707 the public release? When I click Plex Pass Downloads option on the downloads page, it changes the version that is available.

There’s a toggle on the download page that enables Plex Pass Downloads (=beta)
