Plex won’t show any album art for anything in my library anymore. It used to work fine, then i created a pool drive for convenience and my artwork started to disappear. I then deleted the pooled drives, uninstalled plex, deleted the cache found in Appdata/Plex Media Server, and reinstalled plex with no success. The meta data about the show, episode names, actors, and even suggestions to similar movies all appear fine, just no artwork. Any suggestions? I’m not afraid to start over.
That is the issue right there.
“Pooled” drives usually don’t support “hard links”, which are essential for Plex’s data folder.

Your only option is to take a single drive (preferably internal, SSD), format it with NTFS
and move the Plex data folder onto it: Moving Metadata on Windows - #3 by OttoKerner
i figured as much…so
at this point there is no metadata to save…any other suggestions?
Oh i also formatted the drive as NTFS
There is plenty of metadata to save, unless you cleared out everything under Appdata/Plex Media Server
and not just the Cache
folder.
If you did only clear out the cache folder, use my advice above.
If you however want to throw away everything, do this:
- take a single drive (preferably internal, SSD)
- format it with NTFS
- tell Plex to use it as the location for the Plex data folder (basically steps 5 – 8 from this procedure: Moving Metadata on Windows - #3 by OttoKerner )
- delete everything in
Appdata/Plex Media Server
(the old location of the Plex data folder)
okay, giving that a whirl now.
i followed steps 5-8 and OMG, the first album art i’ve seen in months…i think i love you OttoKerner.
thank you!!!
