Server Version#: 4.76.1
Player Version#:I run Plex Server on a TrueNAS server as a plugin. I encode all my videos using HandBrake before I put them on the server. But any time that I encode a video using one of the surround presets in Handbrake, the playback will be stuttering, jumpy, or just won’t play at all. When I use the fast 1080p preset they will play fine, but obviously won’t be in surround sound. I have tried the HQ 1080p30 Surround and the Super HQ 1080p Surround presets, and neither one will play correctly. I’m thinking that there is a setting I have missed in the server settings, but I can’t figure out what it would be. I play the files through a PS3. FWIW, I also have a much smaller Jellyfin server and it is able to play the surround encoded files. That’s why I’m thinking it’s a setting in Plex. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
We’re going to need the PMS server logs ZIP file which capture a playback to see what’s happening.
This sounds like a codec issue. I expect the logs to confirm / deny this is the case and reveal the details.
OK, I’m going to have to find those. I will post them as soon as I do. Thanks.
path: /var/lib/plexmediaserver/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Logs
that directory doesn’t exist on my server. I downloaded logs from the troubleshooting page, but it’s a ton of them, and the zip is too big to upload…which ones do you need?
The ZIP contains what we need to diagnose.
I’ve sent you a PM so you can send your logs privately
