Plex shows duplicates with identical paths and filenames

I’m running Plex server 1.2.2.2857 on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

In my TV library, Plex has started showing the duplicate files icon for a bunch of new episodes. When I check the info page for the episode, it shows two file entries, but the path and file are identical. When I look in the folder on my file system, the file is of course only there once. In other words, there is only one file but Plex shows it twice and reports it as a duplicate. This is happening for most of the episodes that have been added in the last couple of weeks. I’ve tried re-scanning the library and emptying the trash, but the duplicates remain. Does anyone know what would cause this and how to correct and prevent it?

Bump. I see this on unraid also.

Though it wasn’t mentioned in the release notes, I was hoping this might be resolved in the 1.2.3 update, but its still there. I notice that it only seems to affect the most recent episode of each show - when a new episode is added, the duplicate icon disappears from the previous episode and shows on the new episode instead. It also doesn’t appear to affect all shows - out of 14 shows that have aired new episodes in the last week, 12 have the problem and two don’t. I don’t know what’s special about those two.

It looks like I should probably have created this in the Plex Media Server Preview Releases category, since I’m pretty sure it started with version 1.2.1 or 1.2.2, although it looks like @“bradley.j.baker.1982@gmail.com” has already created a thread for it there as well: https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/241856/plex-db-duplicates-in-media-parts

This is an answer, just to shut off the annoying prompts!

How do you shut off the duplicate icon? I have the exact same problem. Shows show the exact same path.

I have the same problem in version 1.3.3.3148

bump

error is still around - root cause known? if not, does any workaround exist?

cheers

Avoid more than one library update running at the same time.
E.g. if you use the automatic library update, disable the period update.

If you use radarr, sonarr etc, and you let these trigger the Plex library update, disable both of the above.
