PLEX seems to be running without a crash after I disabled the periodic scan. Any ideas?
how many media files do you have indexed (total) ?
It we count the total number of directories, with everything being on the NAS, is there any reason to not let it automatically detect new media ?
Granted, it doesnāt solve the problem (which I will go folllow up on) but does keep you running.
Hi Chuck,
I have approximately 1K Movies,3500 TV episodes,75 K photos, 1K music files and they are all indexed as far as I know.
I add Movies and TV episodes manually and from OTA and Photos are added as they are loaded into my Photo box via sync. I really need the media folders updated in near real time.
Plex crashed again. It ran for a week or so before crashing. I updated Plex to the latest version I didnāt see anything in the version notes that would address my issues.

The log ends abruptly, 6.5 MB not 10.5 MB, when it scans the TIF file.
Would you mind doing the following?
-
Make certain the file itself is undamaged.
-
Copy it to a new directory / shared folder so we can create a new library section pointing to only that file.
-
Create the new library section.
-
See if it succeeds or crashes
If that file is ok⦠start copying files, one-by-one until it fails.
Suspicion ā file type or not handling a damaged file gracefully.
Hi Chuck, I am a little confused. I created a new share Plex-log-test. I saved the log file to that folder. I then unzipped the file and got no error. I think you are looking to have me select one of the directories in the log file and determin which action aborted. Sorry I am so dense but could you give me a little more direction.

Hi Chuck , I had a thought maybe I should rebuild my photo library. The only problem with that scenario is I could restore a defective file.
Iām trying to be surgical here first.
If itās a single file ā letās verify that.
Sledge-hammer rebuilding isnāt likely to show anything other than we can reproduce it in a new section/rebuild.
We need that finer grain detail.
I get that but I donāt understand how I increment the program one file at a time.
Thatās pretty easy.
As you copy file(s) ā add in small controlled groups if possible so we can isolate easily if needed ā
- Add files via FileStation
- Plex - Scan Files
- Watch them show up --OR-- Plex crash
If you get more than a few hundred, having added in incrementally larger chunks of up to 50, and it still doesnāt crash, then copy it all and see what happens.
Hi Chuck, I did as you suggested. I loaded picture data into a new share. I loaded a year at a time and loaded five years or so. I left the system to load a year and went to dinner. I checked the next day and the session had aborted and when I logged back in the Plex server was off line. I am sending yo the latest logs.

Hi Chuck,
I loaded several thousand records, I watched Plex scan each one and did get any errors. Donāt konw where to go with this.

Plex crashed again. Here are my latest logs run after the last update and after the last crash.
