Plex skipped an episode

The episode is there in my folder but Plex is not showing it on the server, it showed every episode but this one. Is there a way to manually add an episode?

There is not, but try this with the episode in question (also make sure it’s named correctly)

Well it’s a DVD collection and it does in volumes, not seasons, not sure if that helps.

Any TV show needs to be named how they are found on TheTVDB. If you’re doing it from the DVD, you can choose DVD Order (if it’s different from the airing order), but S01E01 is standard for television even if the DVD’s are Volume 1, volume 2, etc…

What show is it?

Beavis and Butt-Head: The Mike Judge Collection.

If I was you I’d name them appropriately in their DVD Order as seen here:
https://www.thetvdb.com/series/beavis-and-butt-head

Unfortunately, there’s no “Best Of” type things for TV’s and movies… so it’s best to stick with either airing order or DVD order… Which means you’ll have to go through and manually name them most likely.

Edit: You will also have to select the DVD Order from within Plex after you’ve successfully renamed the files and added it back to the TV Section.

I did the DVD order under advanced options but it still skips episode 12, 1-900-BEAVIS, and for some reason it puts that as season 9 with just that one episode in the Plex server.

that episode should be named:

Beavis and Butt-head - S01E12 - 1-900-BEAVIS.mkv (or whatever extension your file is)

It should be placed int he following folder

tvshowsfolder/Beavis and Butt-head/Season 01/

You should name all of the episodes with the same naming scheme, and follow the tvdb for seasons/episodes/titles

ANd once done, do the plex dance from the first post I made, it should add all the episodes accordingly (if you select DVD Order in Plex), and you’ll be able to watch them through.

Edit:

You can use Filebot to rename using DVD Order as well… It may save you some time, and it will organize the folder tree for you too if you tell it to use the Plex naming scheme

Where?

click on episodes on the left, and then there’s a drop down for Airdate or DVD Order, the other place is at the bottom of that menu under edit format is also an edit options I think… and it has dvd order as well I believe

What do I select under the TV drop down list?

leave it on tvdb, and type in Beavis and Butt-Head, make sure season is “All Seasons” then click find.

Once the episodes are all there, highlight the ones you have (or all of them if you have them all) and right click and “Send to Rename”

It will go back to the rename page. At that point, you just make sure all the episodes are lined up correctly, and click on rename, and it will rename all of them for you using the standardized naming scheme.

What if I am only working on season one right now? Every volume is in a folder.

That would work too… I just do them all at once and let FileBot create the show/season folders for me…

I selected season one and it’s skipping over some like the first episode is wrong.

Either you will have to adjust the files up and down till they match with the correct episode on the right, or the order is wrong on thetvdb… I am unsure as I don’t have that DVD Set/Collection on hand to check against.

As I stated previously, unfortunately, that DVD Set is sort of a “Best Of” type thing… and there is no “Best of” when it comes to TV and Movies as far as Plex is concerned…

The way I personally would do it, would be to use the airdates and live with the missing episodes, or try and acquire them some other way… Since the airdate order is the most complete when I look at them on TheTVDB…

How do I highlight all them at once? And I renamed them and Plex put them in red, I clicked validate and continue and now then are gone?

shift + click to highlight all at once

They shouldn’t be gone, they should be in the folder tree specified by your output naming scheme

Plex put them in Red? Or Filebot put them in Red?

Filebot put them in red I meant and the rename of the files didn’t get any of them right.

Once you shift click and send them to rename, you need to re-order the files on the left to match what’s on the right… Match the top one first and work your way down. Filebot is using the order on TheTVDB, which may be the order your files are in, or not, I don’t know because I am not there and don’t have those disks or files to check against.
