Server Version#: 1.30.2.6563 (Issue since a lot of versions)
So I have this Problem were all of my available Upload traffic gets eaten by Plex. It was kinda hard to track down but in the end it was Plex (with about 2% CPU usage of my NAS).
The thing is no one is using Plex while this is happening, no one is streaming and nothing is shown in the activity Tab or Plexdash and Plex uses minimal CPU from my QNAP TS453D.
And if someone was streaming something it wouldnt completley max out my Upload (45Mbits), that would take about 3-4 Streams.
I just thought about maybe Downloading but I have never been able to successfully download anything on my Phone, Tablet or PC APP.
So what does Plex do to randomly send GIGABYTES of Data to the Internet while no one is actually watching anything, and somehow despite me setting in my router the NAS as the lowest priority of all eating up my upload so hard that i cant do anything else like Play games or Stream in Discord. And How can i stop that. Pls Help.
It was happening today at about ~9pm (I shut plex down at probably 9:07pm) and 2 Days ago at ~9:30 till 9:43pm
Well I cant read anything useful out of it, other then someone trying to watch a 1,5 mbit video, which doesnt explain 45mbit of internet Traffic outbound… Plex Media Server.4.log (10.0 MB)
Take a Look and tell me what causes 45mbit outbound traffic in the timeframe from ~9:26pm till 9:43pm
And if it is somehow Users watching Videos (at a 10th of the bitrate) why doesnt it show activity neither in Plex, Plexdash or Tautulli when I have catched activity from those users displaying in all 3 locations already. I also have a packet Capture from my Router for that Timeframe if that would help.
Mystery solved,
It was a user Downloading, and downloads max out and do not care about the per stream limit. Set a maximum upload for the Server and Now it doesnt eat up more.
The Problem that is still there is nothing is shown in activity when he downloads.
My Download attempts are shown tho.
My Downloads do not work on my Wifi on Phone or Chromebook. PC Downloads Work for me in LAN.
