Running a plex media server on windows and its working great but I just can’t figure out for the life of me how to get the sorting to work as I want with my music.
I like to listen to 1 artist at a time and when I do this it takes the album alphabetically. I want it to take it by year instead so I listen to the oldest first and the albums newest last.
Been looking at register keys etc and what people have posted. There is no out of the box settings in plex to do this. Has anyone figured out how to get this to work
If you now use the play icon on the top bar, you will get a play queue with all tracks of all the albums, oldest first.
It requires that your albums are tagged with the correct release date.
hmm yea that would be a option buts its not idel because I also stream music from plex app on my phone so I want something that is universal and a settings.
yeah, do u know much about mp3 tagging? You can fill in the metadata on the music files and plex will sort them out accordingly. I use mp3tag on windows but there is another decent one for linux.
I know about tag and all my music is taged with a year and as said in the begining the issue is not that it doesn’t ready it. The issue is the order of reading it. it reads Album name before year hence its start alphabetically taken the albums instead of by year and its impossible for me to tell plex to do it by year instead og album name
ok… so it doesn’t look like nobody is understanding that its not a tag issue. so here is a pic
as you can see this is my metallica albums and when I hit play it start with the first track in the album Death magnetic. I want it to start with kill em all which is the oldest and what I have set plex to sort after. So the issue is that yes it does sort thigns correctly but its the order. it takes name over year. I only put in the year not the full date which should not make any difference to plex.
