Plex stops working randomly after last update

Server Version#: Version 4.12.3
Player Version#: All Players

Since the last update I have noticed I’ll frequently get up in the morning and Plex will not be working. The web client will say “unable to connect”. I have been starting the PMS and it usually fixes it, but it’s been happening every 24 hours at least once. Last night it happened three times. On Friday, restarting it didn’t work. It could launch and appear to be working, but anytime I tried to connect to anything it said server not found and the web client said it couldn’t connect. It’s getting very frustrating.

I’m using multiple players, mostly iOS, to watch it, while my users use everything from Chrome to smart TV apps. They all report the same problem.

This happened to me too each time the Plex relay agent got started according to the debug log. Since I’ve disabled the relay feature it has been rock solid again. Could you check if this works for you too? Maybe it is sth. Plex can look into once it’s confirmed to fix the issue.

same problem here Playback stops randomly

thanks blank, maybe that helps. ill try

Disable it but doesn’t help

For me it’s crashing only when friends connect to my plex server. With my main account I don’t have any issue

Well, this is interesting, it certainly sounds like trans coding to me. You will need to ascertain the clients used with which Titles be used. I hope there are no 4K titles be shared remotely.

Yep
NO 4k lol. but when I test with my plex account I don’t have any issues with or without transcoding only with invite people
It’s very strange.
when my friend have time, I will put the log in debug to see what’s happend

4.12.3 is the web player version not the server version. Can you see which server version you are using (Settings -> General (under the server dropdown menu))

Plex on mac stopped completely after update. using iMac. Everything worked until update. Now nothing. I’m non technical so no idea how to continue.

This issue appears to be resolved after the latest updates. Thanks!
