Plex streaming on Roku ocassional and randomly video cuts out, as if refresh rate is changing

Hello!

I’m a long time Plex user who has successfully hosted his own server on a powerful Windows PC. For our living room, I switched to Roku sticks about a year ago, as the Samsung Smart OS was getting slow. All was well at first, but after a few months I started having issues with random video cut outs, spinning dots, sometimes and HDMI HDCP error, and then the video comes back. All the while, sound continues, and the file acts as if it has been playing in the background.

What’s weird is the timing kind of coincided with an upgrade to my Plex server, where I went from a 3700x to a 5900XT, and 32 to 64GB of RAM. I had some stability issues at first, and had to run Line Load Calibration on to stabilize it. Something between my motherboard and that chip. Anyways, the server appears very stable now otherwise, passing all other stress tests. However, this dropout issue remains.

I’ve also tried a new Roku device, upgrading from a 4K stick to a Roku Ultra. But the issue still persist. I’ve tried looking in Windows and Plex logs on the server, and I can’t find any sign of an issue ocurring when the drop out happens.

Sometimes I can go days without seeing a dropout, but I’d say it’s around every 4 to 8 hours of video playback. Can’t find any consistency with particular file types or anything.

Oh, most everything is direct stream, though Roku likes to transcode some audio formats, it seams. I’ve tried enabling and disabling the auto-refresh rate option on the Roku, doesn’t affect this particular issue.

Anyone have any ideas or things I could check to see why this drop out is happening? Any leads or things I can check? It never happens while using other Apps on the Roku (Youtube, for example) If I used my Smart TV’s app, it never happens, either.

Thanks!
