Plex support is ending 2020-09-30 on older smart TV devices

All apps listed on here are currently supported https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/player-apps-platforms/

Thanks Otto. I will have a read.

Sorry to trouble you again Otto especially as you’ve been so helpful but I have been researching this problem and still can’t quite get my head around it.

I understand the need for security and as I mentioned, my TV app can no longer access my server as planned by Plex on the 1st October. However, I do not see what the security issue is for me.

Both my smart TV and my Plex PC server are located in my house and connected to the same router. I never attempt to access the server from a remote location. I presume the only communication going on is between the two apps (TV and PC server). The error message on the TV gives the IP address it is trying to talk to and that is correct and I can sign in to the TV app perfectly fine.

Now I found a setting in the server that gives - Allow Fallback to Insecure Connections – with options given as NEVER, ON THE SAME NETWORK SERVER & ALWAYS.

I have set this to ALWAYS, signed out and signed in again but still no luck.

Should this work for me and am I doing something wrong?

Many thanks.

Can the PIN screen (that no longer displays a pin), be disabled / removed / skipped so that we can just set up on our local network using IP numbers if we have TVs affected by this end of life issue?
