Hi, i have a DS916+ and am looking at getting TV/DVR through plex.
Rather than purchasing a HD Homerun device and having this separate, is there any working examples of the USB Tuners that are on plex’s supported list working when attached directly to the USB ports on the Synology?
I am German and HomeRun devices are not offered here. I am using DVBLogic TVButler USB stick with Plex DVR and My Cloud PR4100. Works great as long as your TV signal is unencrypted.

You first must find a USB device supported by Synology. If they do not recognize the device at DSM startup, PMS can’t use it.

@JoergAndreas I’d love to find out how you were able to install the drivers for that usb tuner? I also have a PR4100 and a lot of Hauppage tuners laying around that I would like to try out if I could only install the drivers or get the PR4100 to recognize them.

in your original post, you said “You first must find a USB device supported by Synology. If they do not recognize the device at DSM startup, PMS can’t use it.”
Therefore if i “first need to find a USB device supported by synology” is that all is required to have DVR function in plex?
It was a question which is asking if there is a USB option available for support as the plex site doesn’t say so, but your remarks seem to advise that as long as its supported by the NAS (as per synology page that you graciously linked) then it is supported.
That is correct. Plex has limited support for a number of USB tuners. It’s not as nicely integrated as those which are officially supported but most do work.
I think it better if you look and ask in the DVR & Live TV section of the forum.
I’m not able to support you well at all because my only choice for television is satellite which is of course proprietary and can’t be used with Plex
