Plex SurroundSound-support is so poor

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1709 (Beta)
Player Version#: Plex Plex; 1.3.1.916-1cb2c34d && PMP2.41.0

Files: Leaf and Amaze, Atmos demo videos

So I’ve tried to solve this issue regarding surround sound. Namely that the surround channels are basically silent. However playing the same files in VLC or Windows Photos plays these in glorious sound quality… So why is Plex so horribly bad at playing audio correctly?! Not even to mention that the whole “having two separate Settings-sections” is the worst design idea ever. Now with the new “Plex For Windows”, you can’t even get that?!

I’ve tried updating to all of the new versions, including beta-versions. Deleting codecs-folders wherever I could find them.

Now, why are we as a paying community accepting these kinds of long lasting bugs and blatant problems with their software? Because issues like these have been going on forever!

I unfortunately agree with you. I had a similar question recently. below link is the brief answer i got.

You need to use Plex Media Player (not Plex for Windows/Mac, a desktop app, not an HTPC app), it’s not going anywhere anytime soon after all.
