This seems very odd, but if I try to Sync from the server to the player (“push”, so to speak), the conversion gets stuck “Waiting to be converted”. If instead I “pull” the same file (request sync from the client) … it works fine!

Sorry for the delay! Got tied up, bit of a family crisis.
OK, attached the logs. I tried to initiate a Sync from the Web GUI … it initiates, but on the server side it just keeps showing “Waiting to be converted”. Checked the iPhone … it shows up in the sync list, but “Downloads & Sync” shows ERROR, and in the details it shows that item as Pending … but never proceeds from there. So then I cancelled on the iPhone side, refreshed the server and it was removed (as it should be). Then grabbed the attached logs.
If I initiate the same video from the iPhone side - it works fine.

Are you sure that plex has permissions to write data to the directory your media is in?
you can use setfacl command to add permissions for the plex system account to give it read write permissions for the directory and any sub directories.
setfacl -Rm u:plex:rw /yourmediadirectory
Why does Plex have to write to the media directory? Wouldn’t it use the transcode directory? Just trying to understand.

And actually, thinking about it - I could be wrong, but not thinking it’s a file permission thing … as pull vs. push react differently (i.e. one of the works).
