It’s all in the title. My NAS uses 50% of its ram for plex while this one is not even on… Is that normal?
I’m on the synology ds218play with the 1.13.3.146-987.
Thanks

Someone ? I didn’t find why Plex take 50% of my RAM when he’s off.
I rebooted the NAS, but it didn’t change anything…
When I click on the thumbnail of a movie the loading is sometimes very long. Plex already crashed when I wanted to go back during the movie.
It also happened that the film paused, as if it was not fully loaded.

The DS218play ships with 1GB (1024 MB)
Swap did configure itself for 2GB (2047 MB) which is normal
You are showing 643 total total. It should show 929 total.
Below is from a DS418j which is the same processor
admin@ds418's password:
admin@ds418:~$ free -m
total used free shared buff/cache available
Mem: 929 429 132 2 366 266
Swap: 2047 476 1571
admin@ds418:~$
I recommend reaching out to Synology. This appears to be a hardware issue
Thanks. I’ll see that with Synology. But that doesn’t explain why Plex takes 50% of my RAM, does it?
Plex isn’t taking 50% of your RAM.
You’re missing a huge portion of it.
The DS418j I showed you has the same processor and PMS was running on it at that time.
Please do realize, you’re talking about a box with 1 Gigabyte of total ram for the OS and all applications ?
Well, the resources monitoring show me that :

And I don’t use any application. I understand that I’m missing some RAM, that would explain why my NAS is a bit slow sometimes, but it doesn’t explain why 50% of it is occupied by Plex even when it’s off.
@trumpy81 : I know. I was just listing all the problems I encountered with PLex in case it might help you.
Thanks for the tip, in the scheduled tasks all the checkbox are checked.
Interesting, does your suggestion for the scheduled tasks also holds for other server like the Shield?
And why would I not want to update all libraries or the guide? When is the guide updated then if not during maintenance?
Thanks sounds reasonable and thanks for the remarks. I will work my way through then.
@trumpy81 : Thank you very much I understand better now.
I applied the parameters you recommended and I contacted Synology about the RAM problem.
Thank you all for your precious help.
