Would need logs to see if it is timeouts on requests to the tmdb or something else
Please indicate time of metadata update and which did not get the metadata

But actually - if it is a faulty hardware / firmware device then it could still be the cause. Why not try get it replaced with the one that all other users confirmed as having fixed the issue
Is not the hardware, is the ISP. I manage to route the traffic to image.tmdb.org through a VPN to another provider and then everything it works fine.

Interesting - users going through same ISP had issue resolved by switching router hardware. May be they go through a different route
