Plex Troubleshoot AGAIN: NOT pulling in METADATA & Posters for Movies [UNSOLVED]

Plex is still not pulling in metadata for me.

So, since last time see here

It appeared that my library was undergoing some sort of mild corruption. I ended up redownloading Plex and recreating my libraries with success.

I followed these steps.

  1. Stop Plex from running
  2. Rename the Plex shared folder to Plex.old
  3. Install Plex again, manually (no need to uninstall)
  4. Start Plex and open it in your browser using http://Your-NAS-IP-Address:32400/web 1
  5. Re-create only your Movie library and let Plex populate it, fetch metadata etc.

The other day, the same issue happened again IE: Plex stopped pulling in Metadata for posters and artwork.

So I repeated the steps, and now I am in a worse spot where nothing was pulled in at all EXPECT TV Shows. Movies seem to be the only affected content.

I have attached screenshots and logs.

Joeflix DS718+ Logs
Plex Media (4.9 MB)
Plex Media Server Databases_2018-10-16_07-24-28.zip (4.9 MB)

I changed “Plex. old” back to “Plex” just to run a refresh debug and attach the server logs. You can see that the “Recently Added” Files are the only ones that are impacted.

You can see in the second screenshot movies that pulled in Metadata.

Keep in mind:

  • Joeflix NAS - Orignal Server that expected issues with newly added items.
  • Joeflix DS718+ - Newly created server that is not pulling in any metadata

I tried to run a “Fix Match” as you can see and it did not work. Debug file attached.

Thanks for your help, Trumpy! I will be patient. I wanted to provide as much information upfront as possible.

Is there anything else I can publish in the meantime?

  1. Please stop PMS.
  2. Open the Plex share
  3. Navigate Plex/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-in Support/Caches
  4. Delete everything you find there
  5. Restart PMS
  6. Refresh the metadata for each library section.

I have tried this but will try again with screenshots! Stay tuned.

Also please show me file names. If the file names or embedded metadata are the cause, clearing Caches means nothing.

Also, screenshots do not help much. Logs help more

@trumpy81 asked me to have a look at your issue.

You have a block on tmdb.org - maybe your ISP ? DNS issue?

All requests failed - all timed out by PMS after 15 seconds

You can try these in a browser - anyway the route to xxx.tmdb.org from the server is failing

Ran the refresh and it did not fix the issue.

Now pull fresh logs

sa2000, thanks so much for taking a look at the logs.

I am unsure why there is a block on tmdb.org that is strange…

I did what you said and searched
http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/lxvTtIQOGbi7ZLpyCCEMGAinvz5.jpg

This was the image that appeared.

I just submitted fresh logs in the post above too if that helps. Can I provide any more information that will better diagnose the problem?

suggest you try in a curl command on the server in shell to see if it works on the server itself

I think the syntax is something like
curl 'http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/lxvTtIQOGbi7ZLpyCCEMGAinvz5.jpg' > imagetest.jpg

The linux experts can help with that.

Just to clarify do the new logs I submitted also show the block?

Here you can see my most recently added file names!

Not sure if this is helpful.

But these are the agents I am using.

For some reason, I cannot check “Plex Movie” when I switch windows it unchecks.

Are the agents correct?

I just thought I would test something and create a new library pointing to the same files.

Interesting enough, the older files are pulling in data. On the other hand, the newer files are not pulling in any metadata. Please see “5 Headed Shark Attack.”

I attached logs and debug as usual.

Here is a few of the impacted file names.

What else is running on the Synology? Is there anything making heavy use of your internet or CPU ?

Nope, I got the Synology solely for Plex.

Please see Resource Monitor.

Could you make anything out of the log files I submitted?

Your logs tell me nothing useful.

All I can see are massive timeouts trying to get data (like sa2000) saw.

You’ve been making changes? what ‘changes’ have you been making there?

This looks to be a networking problem. VPN?
