My issue is regarding resuming playback of audio files after stopping. This is not regarding resuming from a certain stopping point mid-way through a song, it’s simply regarding the actual resuming of casting audio. In case it’s relevant, 99.9% of the time I’m playing playlists, which range from ~600 songs (manual playlist) to 1,000s of songs (smart playlists)
Issue reproduction:
- Open Plex app on Android.
- Click on the “Connect to device” button at the top and select my Chromecast Audio. It gives the audio queue through my speakers that it’s casting.
- Select a playlist or individual song
- After a period of time (duration is irrelevant…could be 1 song or 20), I either pause or stop playback.
- Come back later and re-open Plex. Last playing song is displayed at the bottom. I click on the “Connect to device” button at the top and select my Chromecast Audio again. It gives the audio queue through my speakers that it’s casting.
- I click play and I get the forever spinning wheel.
Resolution:
- I click on the “Connect to device” button at the top and select my Chromecast Audio.
- It gives me the option to disconnect. I click “Disconnect” and it asks me if I want to resume play back on my device, to which I say “Yes”
- Audio immediately begins playback on my Android.
- As the audio is playing, I click on the “Connect to device” button at the top and select my Chromecast Audio. It gives the audio queue through my speakers that it’s casting. It then resets the song back to the beginning of the track and properly casts through the speakers.
This is not a new/recent issue. I’ve had this since I started using Plex. It’s continued through multiple server and Android app versions as well as multiple Android phones. So that’s to say I can’t pinpoint how long it’s been an issue. I’ve been using Plex for just over 2 years now. Since I recently purchased a lifetime subscription I figured it was time to start posting about some of my regular bugs that I’ve been encountering as it’s becoming frustrating having to do this everytime I resume playback, which is on a daily basis. Last night I had to repeat my resolution steps either 3 or 4 times for it to resume. A few select times in the past I’ve had to completely wipe out my song queue and restart the playlist for it to resume.
Please advise.
