Plex Touch Update with Playback on iPhone

Just want to announce that I finished the first bigger update for Plex Touch. It is currently in review by Apple and should be availabe in a week or so.



So what’s new: the two most frequent feature are now supported.


  • Playback on the iPhone
  • Seperate Themes for day and night



    Besides that I did some UI tweaks and bugfixes as well.



    Please note that I am raising the price from 2 to 3 USD starting with the availabiliy of that update. Main reason for that is that I have to pay kind of a licence-fee for using the fabulous Plex-Transcoding-API.

Isn't that exactly what the other apps already do? I don't get why there is another one?

Well Plex Touch has by far best remote. And it lets you seamlessly control every PMC instance in your house.



But really, you only have 1 iOS apps to compare to and that’s official iOS. Both apps are very nice.

I find myself using Plex Touch whenever I want to watch stuff on TV… Plex iOS is great for watching on iOS device but remote (especially in 3.0) is really biggest shortcoming at the moment.



(Klexi and Constellation are no longer maintained, actually they never were)



@Stik, is myPlex/queue included in this update? Would be great to get use remote myPlex queued items.

Thanks Stick for the update, but I must say I’m not fan of the night theme. That’s really weird blue hue you’ve found :slight_smile:



Perfect night theme would be something akin to what Lightroom/Aperature apps use for side panels…

I purchased the plex touch iOS app a few days ago.  Its great for content I have on my Mac hard-drive, but I can't seem to get it to find any streaming channels.  

Does it not have that feature?...If so, major drawback!  If it does, please help me find it.

Hi, my current setup involve streaming content from my iMac. It's great that I can playback content on the iPhone (I've the 5), however, I don't seem to be able to enable the sound. Have I missed something?

Haha, I've resolved it. My phhone was on silent mode.
