Hey all, I am a plex newbie (and first time poster here). I am hoping you smart folks can help me out.
Specs:
TV: LG C7 (supports HDR, HDR10+, Dolby Vision)
Receiver: Denon X6500 (supports DTS-X and Dolby Atmos among others)
Server/player- Nvidia Shield Pro (newest version)
As I’ve been dipping my toes in the Plex waters, I recently took some of my 4k movies and threw them on a hard drive plugged into the Nvidia shield pro. The shield pro is in turn plugged into the receiver, and in the plex settings I turned on audio passthrough so it will let the receiver decode the audio.
When I view a movie in the plex menu, sure enough, it will show the 4k Movie and proper soundtrack. so far so good.
The problem is, when I play the movie on that tv (which again isn’t even going over the network as the shield is plugged straight into it), it takes the 4k video and tries to play it as 720p. I have to grab my remote, go to “hd” and select “original” for the quality each time.
Why is Plex/Shield doing this? How can I fix this behavior? Thanks in advance!
