PLEX TV Episodes not lining up with actual DVD

Server Version#:1.31.0
Player Version#:1.64.2.3546-5107

I’ve got a strange one here…

I have seasons 1, 2 & 3 of “The Great British Baking Show” on DVD. When I enter this in the “Match” parameters it doesn’t “exactly” come up as this.

First choice is “The Great British Bake Off” but when I select that series in my PLEX to match it…the episodes are all wrong.

On the DVD’s there are 10 episodes each season and they are listed as follows:

S1 Episode List: Cake, Biscuits, Bread, Desserts, Pies & Tarts, Continental Cake, Pastries, Advanced Dough, Patisserie and The Final.
S2 Episode List: Cakes, Bread, Desserts, Pies & Tarts, Biscuits & Traybakes, Sweet Dough, Pastry, Quarterfinals, French Week and The Final.
S3 Episode List: Cake, Biscuits, Bread, Desserts, Alternative Ingredients, Pastry, Victorian, Patisserie, Chocolate and The Final.

Nowhere in theTVDB database has those, in that order. These are the videos straight from PBS…

How do I get these to show up correctly? PLEX shows the first 6 episodes and shows them as: Cakes, Biscuits, Bread, Puddings, Pastry, Tea Party and the rest are just labeled “Episode #” 7-10…and they are pulling the TV episodes from THIS database.

What do I do to get this resolved? I can submit pictures if needed.

I’ve also opened a ticket in theTVDB.com site asking this…it seems it might be more on their side than PLEX…since you pull data FROM them for TV episodes, but thought I’d see if anyone else ran up against this and see how they fixed it.

Thanks in advance…

If your particular DVD is not listed on TVDB or TMDB with the exact same order you don’t have a lot of options except to reorder everything

In most cases these episodes exist in the normal order for the show, they are just different than the DVD order

Your disc 1 with 10 episodes might have 2 episodes from season 1, 3 episodes from season 4 ect…

You have to match up the titles to the season and episode number that the TVDB has

I don’t know if that’s even true for this show specifically I’m just speaking in general. You’ll have to see if you can hunt them down in the normal TVDB (aired) order to see

The only other option is to edit all the metadata yourself manually inside Plex the way the DVD has it or hope that the TVDB makes the changes you request

Unfortunately…that’s not the case here.

Each “season” actually IS 10 episodes and they crown the champion for the season on the 10th episode.

The next season starts with an entirely new group of people…

Since it’s under a different name on the DVD’s, I’m wondering if it’s one that slipped thru the cracks.

Ok so my example was maybe misleading.

What I’m saying is that the episodes you have on that DVD aired on TV at some point which means they are listed somewhere on the TVDB.

They appear to be there from the titles you listed.

Your DVD season 1 = TVDB season 3

Your DVD season 2 = TVDB season 4

Your DVD season 3 = TVDB season 6

Look at the episode names you listed compared to the episode names I linked

I suggest you download this renaming program

So the DVD’s said S1, S2 & S3 and what they actually are is:

S1>S5
S2>S4
S3>S6

Thanks for the direction…
