TVDB has "Aired Order" and "DVD Order". How do I force Plex match episodes by DVD order? (I'm ripping DVDs)

Hi,

My latest quarantine project is ripping my DVD collection. I ran into a problem ripping Seinfeld- Plex is mis-matching the episodes. I found that the only way to edit which episode matches how is by making sure that the episodes are correct in TVDB. In doing so, I found that TVDB lists episodes in two different orders: aired, and DVD. Obviously I want to follow the DVD order. How do I get Plex to do that? Moreover, there’s an episode in Season 2 of the DVD that must not have been aired because the DVD has 13 episodes and the TVDB shows only 12 (Episode 9, The Stranded is missing).

I think that missing episode actually aired in season 3, so you’ll find it there for the aired order on TVDB.

If you edit the series, you can change the order under advanced:

Wow, very helpful. Thank you!

While you’re here, I have a follow up question. What does the small gray icon at the top of some episodes mean? They’re labeled “2” and when I click on them, it just goes into multi-select mode. Not all episodes have them.

That should mean that Plex thinks there are duplicate files for those episodes. Is this only happening for Seinfeld? If you’re using the right naming convention, I would maybe run a scan for your TV library to see if it clears that up.

I know there are plenty of threads here that have dealt with that issue. If you search for “duplicate files,” that might help you out.

Thanks. I’ll look into it. It only showed up immediately after I switched from Aired to DVD order, so maybe it was still sorting through them (e.g. old episode 5 and new episode 5 - duplicates).

I’m also saving all of the extra features in a separate sub-folder in each season’s folder and I’m not renaming the files. They’re just like “Seinfeld - Volume 1 (disc 3) t_06” or whatever. That could be messing it up. I’ll look into it. Thanks for the help.

You can try refreshing the metadata for that series as well. Will be an option under the 3 dots.

I don’t do extras, so you’ll be on your own for that one! :stuck_out_tongue: The forums can probably help you there as well.
