Interesting problem. My TV favorite channels isn’t working with my tuners. Favorite channels works with Plex live tv channels however. This suddenly became a problem a few days ago. It says my plex media server is offline when trying to play a show from favorites. However, the same Plex tv app easily plays all my tuner channels and movies music etc. from the server that it says is offline. It is available remotely and I can verify that my pms streams to both my LAN and also to my devices when I’m not at home. It’s only the favorite channels list that isn’t working. I put a lot of time customizing my favorite channels lineup so I’m hoping not to have to recreate it from scratch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Great question. It adds the channel to favorites as a duplicate entry (but at the bottom of the favorites list) and that new channel plays fine but the original channel still does not play. The original channel also does not have guide data but the new channel does.
Or inspect them yourself. Take a look at the Plex Media Server.log file and seek for messages about database corrupt or malformed.
If you find these, you may have to repair your database. https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/
Thank you. No change in channel lineup or tuner devices. Checked and didn’t see corruption of the database but perhaps it is. Suggestion on how to rebuild if there’s no overt error showing? The databases is making it usual backups without trouble.
will do. i appreciate the help. is it possible that the database has assigned two separate identifiers for the same server? if so, where would i edit it so that it wouldn’t be the case? that would logically be the problem since the server is available and named the same and the tuners are the same and the tuners tune from plex but the favorites won’t tune from that same server.
You said nothing changed, so that shouldn’t normally happen.
Any tuner-specific stuff is in the table media-provider-resources
If you clean that table out completely, you can delete all traces of previous tuners etc.
(as always: create a backup of the database first, before editing anything in it)
one thing still bothers me: if i have my PMS off, favorites still shows up on my TVs etc and plex tv channels are still there and tune appropriately with my PMS turned off. where is the favorites list coming from if my server is off? is it possible that there is a link somewhere else that points to my server?
Plex channels are not handled by your server. So these faves are stored in your account.
But it isn’t these channels which are affected, but those who do live on your server – right?
Correct. So is my account not seeing my server correctly? Is it seeing the same server name as a different server when it’s not? I’m wondering if that’s the whole problem??
Thank you. If it’s a trade secret I’m ok with that. Can my account be fixed so that my favorites work as they should? I’ve only been using favorites for a few months and I want to continue using it because it has a tone of merit.
