plex uses a pool of ip address that to my knowledge all come from plex.direct. not sure on the rest

Ok, what range of IPs belongs to this direct access? It’s ok when there are two first known, like 85.79.xxx.xx

No, i’m using now VPN to my home network. Incoming ports to plex from outside are disabled.

The IP’s are dynamic and change regularly. You would need to create a script that periodically polls the server list and update your firewall rule.
