Why, but WHY! - cant we choose anything else than plex own scanner?! - no matter what you choose other than the useless one, UPGRADE LIBRARY (ORANGE MONSTER TEXT) and it dont seem it can be turned off / removed!
Since plex tv serie scanner really only find big shows, why cant we choose another without getting slammed with “warnings” ?
plex serie scanner is so useless that it thinks, this is the same show:
Top gear from a to z
Top gear specials
(FIXED IT - by removing the both shows - then adding the specials, and then re-adding a to z, but that just cant be right!)
you cant tell plex its not same, maybe its time to spend time on getting the settings back on track, instead of this “we want to be a 200 in one app”
and please, PLEASE! - make a legacy plex server for us, that JUST want to use it for what it was made for: movies and series! (make it for plexpass users if you want)
Those are by common definition specials of the regular show… not a separate show, e.g. because they’ve been released as a separate DVD set. Accordingly, Plex will pick them up if you name them as such.
You might notice the specials are listed quite differently on TheTVDb and The Movie Database. Depending on which one you deem right, you can set the episode order to be used in Plex (for the entire library or individual shows)
Since it can DO IT - if when i removed both, and re-add specials first, and then a to z - and yes, the specials is not on those sites, and that just makes it SO much worse!
Why do the scanner think a show i called top gear specials, and REMOVE MATCH from, is another show, not even close to same name in folders
Why cant we tell the scanner: NO the 2 episodes is NOT same show, and split them up, so i can make a custom “show”
besides its not a custom show, its a new show its on many streaming services, like:
So again, your post did not offer a fix - cause when a “REMOVE MATCH” dont even split the other show from it, system is just broken.
That’s the very same specials listed on TMDb and TVDb… it appears viaplay.dk (or the production company) have simply opted to repackage some of the episodes to sell them as „something new“ to make some more money. That doesn’t make it a new/separate show.
That’s why you’ll find a separate Split Apart option in the context menu of your show if Plex notices its files are spread across different top-level folders. You can only split shows, not individual seasons or episodes.
That’s the same no matter what library agent you’re using.
Nope, just no … and cause you dont have … my server is a “tad” more complex than most, and itts not there, and NO i dont tag my dir on pc with imdb numbers, sounds (insert something not nice)
It sounds like you are making your sever more complex by trying to do things in a non-standard fashion. If you follow the documentation things work a lot better.
If you want your own shows don’t use the TV series scanner.
failure to follow recommended naming schemas results in less than ideal results. Ive seen both very large, and very complex setups. Both can be easily addressed with proper naming. (Hell I was using IMDB ids before plex supported it)
