I used to run Plex from my NAS but changed to a separate server that I am running it from. I only use the NAS to store my Plex Media on, so I don’t need the Plex Server on my NAS anymore.
When I uninstall Plex from my NAS should I do a complete uninstall as there are 3 options.
I will keep the media as that is not associated with Plex anymore, but I want to get it off of my NAS.
I must be doing a bad job of searching because I can’t find anything that really tells what to do for sure. I’ll keep looking.
By your question –
- You have a DSM 7 PMS installation?
- You want to remove PMS from the Synology
- You don’t want any of the PMS metadata left behind ?
If that’s correct, then Uninstall with the ERASE option.
It will uninstall the package and remove all the metadata (empties the PlexMediaServer shared folder).
DSM7.
Remove PMS with no date left behind.
So, Uninstall with the erase option.
That’s what I thought. The more I look at the options, the more I really didn’t need to waste anyone’s time with this. I just like to make sure sometimes.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.
Well, I did the erase but it left my Plex folders with stuff in them. Do I just delete the folders now? It is not empty that I can see.
Use Control Panel - Shared Folder – Delete the shared folder(s)
That’s what I figured out. Thanks.
