Plex update broke ChromeCast - Something went wrong

now , every thing starts to work perfectly as expected again since couple of weeks after the recent updates …

Constantly having this problem, it’s super annoying since I use plex heavily and my entire house has Chromecasts in it. Getting really tired of rebooting my phone, the chromecast and the plex server to resolve this.

Casting works fine when I cast from a ChromeOS device on the WebUI. But using the phone almost always results in a “Sorry! Something went wrong”.

Sometimes rebooting the phone fixes it, sometimes rebooting the Plex server fixes it. I really hope someone from the Plex crew looks into this.

Issue presents itself on a Pixel 4 XL and a Razer Phone 2 so I doubt it’s a Android OS version / phone issue.

I should note this latest issue was not resolved by rebooting the phone and I just wanted to get to watching my movie instead of screwing around with troubleshooting plex yet again and did it from my ChomeOS tablet.

I have a Pixel 3 and I have not seen this issue for quite a while.

When I did have this problem, either clearing the storage on the Plex app, or uninstalling and reinstalling the app always fixed it.

Yeah I’ve done that, will do it yet again. Would be nice if this was resolved permanently, feel like this issue is constantly coming back.
I’m just tired of troubleshooting Plex all the time you know? Just want it to work and not have to think about it :).

Just had to uninstall and reinstall plex YET AGAIN to get it to work. This issue is becoming enormously frustrating. This is 3 different phones now all having this same exact issue - so can’t be a simple client end issue. We have a Pixel 4 XL, a Razer Phone 2, and a brand new Pixel 4a 5G all doing this. How would be nice if Plex finally put this issue to rest.

When I first started using Plex, it relatively “just worked”. Now as more time passes, more and more often there are more and more bugs stopping me from just being able to sit down and watch a movie without mucking with everything every time. Pretty much every time now I want to use Plex it’s a complete crapshow of reboot, force stop, clear cache, uninstall / reinstall, rebooting the plex server, etc just to get it to work.

CMON PLEX. I’d take the reliability of the old plex over these new “features” stricken with bugs ANY DAY.

Similar problem here.
Server version is 1.21.3.4021 (recently updated)
Casting from my android phone to chromecast on my TV.
After 4-5 mins of play time I get “Something went wrong” error.
Plex used to work perfectly with Chromecast but after recent update I can’t play movies anymore.

Try uninstalling the Android app and then reinstalling it.

STILL having “Sorry, something went wrong” or “h2 not supported” FREQUENTLY when casting from the android app.

Works perfectly fine from the chromebook.

Having to constantly clear cache and force quit the app is getting really, really annoying.

Probably going to turn to other solutions if this isn’t fixed soon.
