Plex Updates for WD PR4100 not working

Server Version#: 1.41.6.9685

Any update available after 1.41.6.9685 has not worked on my NAS. It will say successfully installed after installing, but plex shows it cannot find my server and just keeps trying to reconnect, and ive let it sit overnight, and have done reboots, the only thing that works is to revert back to update 1.41.6.9685. I do believe my NAS had a firware update sometime in apr/may, but not sure if that would affect plex updates? But, yeah I even tried going back a couple more versions to go to the latest with no success. So currently stuck with version 1.41.6.9685

db is at: 318M com.plexapp.plugins.library.db

My backup runs every 3 days. Default checkbox for Backup DB every three days.

yeah, after i update the new version, the web address access also says the same thing. Ill add screen shot of it tomorrow.

I have been having issues with Plex updates on a WD Ex2 Ultra and have just rolled back to the most recent one that works. While my Vids play OK I think I’ll simply leave it be.

Update Issues on WD Ex2 Ultra - 1.40.4.8679 and now 1.41.0.8994

I am running Plex on a WD Ex2 Ultra – updates are downloaded and installed manually and I manage my content via a Plex App on Windows 11 (64Bit). Occasionally in the past I have had minor issues with updating the Server App but I have always managed to find a way around it. However with 1.40.4.8679 and now 1.41.0.8994 when I go into the Windows 11 App to check if everything is OK the connection with my server has been lost. I have been able to update to version 1.42.1.10060 today

It didn’t work as updates usually do for me, the fix I needed to do was to click “Run App“ in the Plex Media Server App page then I clicked configure, waited a couple minutes and it has worked ok since then

Ok, that might be the dumbest thing to happen for updates ever. So I updated to the latest version, and for some reason the “Run App” turns off after update. I turned it back on and no issues. So why is it turning off with updates? Wasnt an issue before 1.41.6.9685. But anyway, Im updated to the latest version with the help of cosm0naught. Thanx!

I tried updating to 1.42.1.1000 today on my WD EX2 Ultra but now cannot connect (it says Ex2 etc unavailable). Rolled back to last version and still cannot connect. It worked perfectly before I installed this update. Also the configure button says URL not found on this server. I have tried reboots logging off etc but no luck. Any ideas? Which OS is your EX2 U running?

Should be the same, PR4100 is also running OS5. Your “Run App” toggle is on? Might have to look at your log and see what its doing when you update

I had the exact same issue and figured out that I needed to turn off the app before doing the update. After doing that the update work perfectly.

I want to thank everyone for this conversation. I’ve pulling my hair out for days and just

reading this my problem was solved. I too was having problems with connecting to the

Plex server after updating to the most recent version. Such a small thing as not turning on

the app in the NAS settings can cause major headaches. Thanks again to everyone.
