Plex version 1.14.0.5465 breaks Remote Access

As per the title.
Installed on Windows 10, 1803.
DD-WRT Router

Tried:
manual port mapping on router -fail
Turn off Windows firewall -fail
Clear uPnp table on router -fail
Reboot router -fail
Disable remote access and re-enable -fail
Reboot Windows -fail

Roll back to previous version of Plex -success.

did remote access actually not work or did you just get the indicator in Settings > Remote Accessdisplaying a red traffic light?
I’m using 1.14 myself and remote access works as usual.

Fair question, I wasn’t willing to test as I have a few remote users. Conversely does yours indicate not accessible but work?
I suspect it wasn’t working as there was no upnp entry being created on the router. One was immediately created after rolling back.

PLEX SERVER 1.14.0.5465 on SYNOLOGY DS-214play not available on remote access (but worked fine before the update)

Dear all,

i got the same issue. Everything worked well (after years of updates and entertainment with plex). Yesterday, i updated PLEX 1.13.9.5439 to 1.14.0.5465. Since this, plex announce that the server is no more available on remote access but only on local… So from home, i switched off the wifi from my phone to check as remote access with 4G), and weirdly, the IOS app announced that my plex was offline, and i could not play a single file)… So i called a friend that i shared my server, he confirmed my Plex Server was offline… he was not able to play any videos, and all libraries indicates with a red sign “OFF LINE”.

Of course, i tried to reboot the internet, reboot the NAS etc… nothing changed, it worked on local access but not anymore to remote access (Your plex Server is not available for remote access, you can still use plex to local…)

So i uninstall plex 1.14.0.5465 from my NAS and installed my previous version 1.13.9.5439. Then, everything came back to normal (without rebooting anything…). Plex was back to remote access, my friend confirmed, even my IOS (while back to 4G/remote).

Just to make sure, i decided this morning to re-create the issue. I again installed 1.14.0.5465, and again, PLEX Server was no longer working on REMOTE. My friend describes the same issue “OFF LINE” to all librairies i am sharing with him, and could not play any videos. So i replaced this new update with previous 1.13.9.5439, then again, Plex was back to remote access …

So, is the new update 1.14.0.5465 disconnect PLEX Server from remote access?

Best,
Denis.

Thanks Denis for taking it a step further and having an external user test. I’ll be waiting for a further update of PMS before attempting to upgrade again.

@plex_gb I’ve just tested this, PMS states " Not available outside your network" however it continues to function on my phone over 4G. Like you, I have a couple of people who use it so I needed to confirm it working or roll back.

EDIT: Please note, I did disable>enable the external access a couple of times before performing this test

I am having this same exact issue. Has worked for years and no longer with this update.

I just downgraded to 1.13.xxx again and everything is working great again. I did not change any network settings with my router, NAS or Plex.

@secondskin Did you actually test if it was working? Mine still shows as “Not available…” but it actually does work.

Yes. I did test that. It was “Not available” and truly not available. Also confirmed by family members that live in different areas.

@secondskin Interesting. The only variable I did was to disable and enable the service 2 - 3 times before I found this thread and realised it was an issue and tested before rolling back.

I tried that many times to no avail.

Same here. Remote access IS broken now.
I finally upgraded from a much older version (from sometime in 2017).
Windows 10 Pro 1803, OS Build 17134.407 (64-bit). Netgear WNDR3700v2 router with its normal and up-to-date firmware (V1.0.1.14), which hasn’t changed in a long time.
No port-forwarding at all, never tried it. Never needed it.

Wi-Fi access (of course) still works, but remote access does not.

I have Plex Log and Plex TV Route XML results file, if someone would like to see them.

One area of the log I looked at (searching for NAT) shows it remote connecting fine BEFORE the update. And then NOT remote connecting AFTER the update.

Thanks!
Yes, I discovered that tid-bit also, on another thread, late last night.
A just-released Beta.
Installed that, and it DOES WORK NOW.

I hope my 6 or 7 year old router is not considered that “old”, but maybe it is.
I do know it was one of the most popular ones, in its day.

The bit that broke uPnP was using a function that was introduced in the spec in 2010 - so very close !!

I had the same issue and did the same troubleshooting. What fixed it for me was logging into my router (from browser on desktop), deleting the Plex port forwarding then adding it back. Essentially a soft turn it off, turn it on. Switching the router power off/on did not work.
My home setup is: Verizon Fios actiontec router wired to QNAP NAS (PMS) wired to Xbox one (Plex app) and wireless to amazon firestick (Plex app) All this was working but remote access was not (iOS, internet etc).
