Not sure what is going on, but since I updated to this version today my server keeps crashing and I restart. Then it works fine for a few minutes then stops again. Definitely something is messed up in this new version. I have had a near-perfect experience up until the update.
I am having the exact same issue and disabling Hardware Acceleration from Settings > Transcoder fixed the problem too. It is now at least functional. Before it would crash immediately every time anyone locally or remotely tried to play anything. Thank you!! Hopefully they actually fix the introduced bug here soon.
How did you rollback? Just trying to install the older version on top of it yields an error for me and the setup cancels itself immediately because it detects a newer version.
note down your current Plex Server software version
Stop Plex Server using its tray icon.
uninstall Plex Server with the regular ‘Apps’ control panel of Windows. Do not use 3rd party ‘uninstaller’ software like Revo etc. Do not use Registry cleaners/optimizers.
go to your Plex data folder .
There is a subfolder in there, named Updates which will contain previous versions of the installer .exe
execute the installer for the previous software version
reboot Windows (just a safety measure, it may work without rebooting as well)
I tried that method first, but I kept getting some permission error. Installing the latest public release 1.18.0.1944 worked, and doesn’t have the error introduced in 1.18.1.xxxx. I’m not sure why I was getting the error, though, since the file in the Plex updates folder is the same as the latest public release. Maybe another reboot cleared the issue up.
