Would you mind to provide some more details of what you’ve done and what you were aiming for?
The screenshot itself does not provide a lot of input to the “uninitiated”
I’m sorry,
I checked on all library “generate preview thumbnails” 2 days ago and clicked to “Analyze”. My library is now 68Gb instead of 5Gb, so I think all preview thumbnails were generated. During these 2 days, I saw on activity dashboard that plex generated thumbnails.

Video preview thumbnails are not appearing on the main page.
What Otto said
You will see preview thumbnails e.g. on the “now playing” dashboard. They’re also used by some/most clients during playback (as per your screenshot).
oh okay, that’s why !
Thank you
Just like the OP, I just finished generating thumbnail previews and I couldn’t figure out why they weren’t appearing on the “Continue Watching” screen.
So is the verdict that they shouldn’t appear on the 'Continue Watching" screen? I could have sworn that I used to be able to see them a while back, not sure if that functionality has been removed.
If I remember correctly Plex Web showed the episode thumb instead of the season/show background for some time as the image in “continue watching” but users were not super keen of having it this way as the episode thumb could spoil some of the episode events.
No preview thumbs involved in this.
Makes sense. Thanks!
