Plex Web Connects to the Server but not iOS apps when away from local network

Server Version#: 1.23.5.4862
Player Version#: 7.20

I have been pulling my hair out trying to figure out what’s happening here. I can’t use the Plex app to connect to my home server (Mac mini) when I’m away from home. The server shows the port is accessible from outside the network and if I go to plex.tv/web, I can access the server even if I’m away from local network.

Have you configured a custom server URL in your Plex for iOS settings?
Settings > Advanced > Network > Server Connections?

No I had checked it already.

I had Secure DNS (OpenDNS) profile set up but even with that disabled, no luck.

Not exactly sure what else this could be caused by. Did you already have a look at the client logs?

I’m attaching the log from yesterday. I’m not smart enough to say if theres something obvious in there.

Does this issue persist if you force-quit and restart the app?
Alternatively you could also do a full uninstall/reinstall of the Plex app.

Yes, its not only persistent on force quit/restart, its persistent across multiple iOS devices. I see there was a DNS issue with Plex few days ago and I wonder if its related to it. But if it was it should’ve been resolved by now.

I’m going to delete and reinstall the app to see if I can get it working again.

Well not sure what happened, but it seems to have resolved itself now. Didn’t even get a chance to reinstall the app and it’s now working on all my iOS devices. I’m guess maybe there was a DNS issue left over from several days ago?
