Plex Web frequently stops buffering videos when paused

When I pause Plex Web for several minutes and then try to resume the video, very often the video fails to buffer. As a workaround, I have to refresh the Web page.

This workflow is particularly frustrating, because the page fails to persist the playback size state. For some reason, refreshing the page causes fullscreen videos to resume as a miniaturized PIP style view. That’s another inconvenient hoop to jump through, just to resume paused videos.

Not sure why buffering has trouble resuming when the viewing computer is left unattended for just a few minutes. In fact, not sure why buffering halts. Why not continue buffering the remainder of the video into the browser tab, as long as the Web page is open?

I have experienced this too.
However I have found that sometimes switching the Quality can restore functionality , for example switching from Convert (Maximum) to Convert Automatically, or vice versa. ( This is on the Windows Server and Plex Web )

Good tip!

I wonder if the “Automatically adjust quality (Beta)” setting does this for Mac.
