Plex Web Player freeze when seeking rapidly

When seeking (Back or Forward) with the arrow keys or quickly with any other means, the player freezes with the loading circle visible.

Anyone else sees this issue? It seems like the seek function isn’t debounced correctly.

Fast forward and rewind will result in infinite loading swirl until restarting episode

The rewind (by 10s) and fast forward (by 30s) functions will cause whatever content I’m watching to get the orange loading swirly in the middle of the screen, but instead of resuming, it will just load forever. I can click on the timeline to another part of the episode, and then click back, and that will usually cause play to resume. Sometimes I have to exit out of the episode and resume it again. I know it’s not my Plex Media Server being slow or lagging, either hard drives or internet speed.…

Try this. Check “Use alternate streaming protocol for video playback” Find it in Settings >> PLEX WEB >> Debug

Reduces the freeze to a brief pause. Found in another thread.

How does everyone not have this problem? Always thought it was because of my old server, but recently purchased new hardware and realized this was a Plex issue.

Same issue, people in my house are complaining more now.

Did the alternative streaming protocol help on platforms other than just the Plex web client? Going to try it myself
