Server Version#: 1.21.1.3830
Player Version#: 4.49.2
I am experiencing the same behavior as seen in this thread and this thread.
I am running a server using an Nvidia GPU for hardware-assisted transcoding.
When viewing media in the Web Player (same behavior across Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, on multiple client PCs), changing the Quality settings results in an immediate termination of the Nvidia transcode process and the playback hangs at a black screen. This occurs regardless of whether the quality is changed to be higher or lower than the initial stream.
Brute-forcing the transcode by pre-selecting a specific quality in the Plex settings menu allows that quality to play (with proper hardware transcoding), but any subsequent changes from within the web player itself cause the exact same behavior described above – the transcoding processes stop, and the stream hangs at a black screen.
This error occurs on multiple PCs. Three browsers were tested, including Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. Two separate servers were tested; one on Windows, using a locked 1080Ti; the other on Linux, using a Quadro P2000. Both Nvidia cards were running the latest approved official drivers.
Hardware transcoding works fine for all other clients tested – iOS, Android, Roku, and PS4. This only occurs with the Web Player.
