Hi, I think within the last two updates now when I log into my PLEX web session on my browser, I am prompted for a “PLEX WEB setup - Customize your setup page” which give you options to which media sources to show on the sidebar.
I go through the setup and click “Finish Setup” but the next time I log back in, I am prompted by the same page and everything is checked again where it did not save any of my settings.
This is very annoying behaviour and not normal. Is this a bug and is anyone else experiencing this?
I have tried your suggestion of using the app.plex.tv URL instead of the locally stored one. It seems to have made a difference and is behaving normally now when I log in.
Not sure what changed but this will get around the original problem.
No, this is not about blocking cookies. It’s about retaining cookies.
All browsers allow you to set a policy, which clears “usage traces” when you close the browser. If this is activated, it will cuase the plex settings to be lost.
Sometimes there is also additional software on your which makes the browsers “forget” their cookies. Think “provacy enhancers” or “cleaning” or “optimization” software. For instance the software “CCleaner” on Windows can also “clean” all web browsers on the system.
I had not changed anything in the settings of my browser that I use which is MS Edge and I do not use and 3rd party SW that runs in the background as any type of cookie cleaner.
As I had mentioned, I tried my local PLEX URL connection on another computer and got the same result so I think that pretty much rules out browser settings.
I am now using the app.plex.tv connection and it does not give me this problem so I am happy to go with that.
