If you mean just go to the web interface in a browser, that’s what I did after downgrading. I just go to https://app.plex.tv/desktop/ in chrome to watch content. And doing that I was able to watch things that previously froze once I downgraded the server to 1.24.
Yes, app.plex.tv works when streaming from a 1.24 server but not a 1.25 server.
(back from the Dr… I’ll live…
)
Thank you both for confirming what I’m finding here as well.
With that confirmed, now for the data I need to give to Engineering.
What I need:
- Debug logs zip of 1.24.x which works (playback past where it fails in 1.25.x).
- Debug logs zip of 1.25.x which fails (playback until point of failure).
- XML of the item being played in both versions.
You can do this in any order which is most convenient.
It will give me the side-by-side comparison I need to take to Engineering and ask WTH?
Hi @ChuckPa,
I’m trying to send you my logs but the PM thing on this site is saying that “Sorry, ChuckPa is not accepting messages at the moment.” Any ideas? I’d rather not post them in public.
I also have logs prepared that I would like to send but would rather not post on the public forum.
The same for me here
bump.
I also experience this issue with some files only when streaming from a desktop browser.
I followed the instructions here to downgrade PMS on Windows to 1.24.5.5173 (the latest version I had for 1.24.x) and the issue disappeared.
If logs are needed I can reinstall 1.25 and try to reproduce.
I did this test of using 1.24 and app.plex.tv already last year and metioned it also here in the thread two times. Have @anon18523487 and you actually talked to each other? Has anyone properly collected all the information that has been provided? Perhaps I should apply for a job at Plex as well. Seems like the perfect job for slackers.
I’ve had the same issue immediately since upgrading to v1.25. Been pulling my hair out ever since. Downgraded to v1.24 today and the problem is instantly fixed.
I am having this same issue. Are there instructions somewhere for downgrading PMS on Synology?
How has this not been fixed yet? I never noticed it because I make everyone download the app but after testing today it kept buffering on Chrome (Version 1.25.7.5604) and after downgrading to 1.24.5.5173 it worked perfectly. Almost 3 months now with zero fixes.
Nothing new really, issues can go unfixed indefinitely. I just wish they would acknowledge the bug so that we could at least hope a fix might happen. I’m sure they are hard at work on a feature no one asked for. Maybe a NFT gallery?
unbelievable that they do not reacts at this bug. Please team do something, this is really annoying
Hello there, I have the same issues.
I can however unblock it by changing the Playback settings > Quality. When I switch between any of the options, I get 2 more minutes of playback. After that is stops buffering again.
What I keep seeing in the logs when this happens is:
Mar 03, 2022 13:09:29.064 [12492] DEBUG - WebSocket: client initiated close
Mar 03, 2022 13:09:29.064 [12492] DEBUG - NotificationStream: Removing because of close
This means that the player closes the WebSocket, terminating communication with the server.
Hi @ChuckPa and @anon18523487
Have you been able to reproduce this issue? It has been going on for months now.
Let me know if there is some way I can help.
Thanks!
I had the same issue locally for quite some time. I ended up crawling into a cave and not answering my phone as others I had setup blew up my phone. For now, when playing locally in a web browser, I have resorted to loading the player by visiting the server address instead of through app.plex.tv. http://MACHINENAME:32400/web/index.html seems to avoid the issue entirely.
i have the same issue
enochian0117 That solution is only for streams inside your local network, but in remote streams you must use https://app.plex.tv and here is the problem…
The only thing I think is that if this bug is not being fixed is because… maybe they want to covertly eliminate web playbacks?
I’ve the same Issue ( Version 1.25.7.5604)
