plex website and sever not reachable and and log files not accessible please advise?
You should always be able to access https://your-PMS-ip-address:32400/web — even if the online version (https://app.plex.tv/desktop) is down / not accessible.
just clicked on the link and again it said could not rech
Excuse me, but I am still waiting on a response please?
no need to apologize or to excuse yourself.
check out the IP address of your Plex Server and replace the your-PMS-ip-address part in the link above with that IP (e.g. 192.168.0.12).
if that doesn’t work you can access the log files via your Windows Explorer.
Search for the following folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs where %LOCALAPPDATA% usually is a hidden folder in your user directory. In Windows 7 this used to be C:\Users\ [your user name]\AppData\Local.
again I’m sorry but I just cant find what you are describing. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Logs led me to a list of a ton of things, none of them that look exactly like this one and I have no idea how to mess with an i.p. address.
the “ton of things” should be files ending with .log (or .log.1, .log.2… .log.5). when creating a bundle of log files, this is the files Plex collects and puts in a single ZIP file. the list should include logs for…
- agents (e.g.
com.plexapp.agents.fanarttv,com.plexapp.agents.htbackdrops,com.plexapp.agents.imdb… – lots of them… this is 78 files in my log without any plugins installed) - system files (
com.plexapp.system) - if activated, logs of the DLNA server (
Plex DLNA Server) - scanning (e.g.
Plex Media Scanner,Plex Media Scanner Analysis,Plex Media Scanner Deep Analysis,Plex Media Scanner Chapter Thumbnails) - playback (e.g.
Plex Transcoder Statistics,Plex Tuner Service) - and most importantly… the general server log (
Plex Media Server)
If you don’t want to zip them all and upload them you could maybe zip those Plex Media Server... .log files.
This is the best I could do, I hope it’s what you wanted.
Well… it looks like it played things for you quite nicely earlier today (e.g. “Don’t Make Me Over” and “Aliens” playing each for ~21 minutes on your Roku). So I’m not entirely sure what your problem was. It seems at least the Roku can access your server just fine, can’t it?
no, I don’t even have those movies???
I assure you that my Roku, my Android, and my laptop are telling me there is no server. when I try to open plex on my laptop it says cannot reach, but if I were to click plex at the top of this page I can still reach your homepage, log in and access my account. However, on my account, under settings, I can access web, users, and devices, but when I select server it says it’s not available. one way or the other I cannot watch anything on any of my devices.
well… that’s what the log you sent me says… however I stand corrected, it doesn’t refer to “today” but played those on March 1, 2018.
Please try the following: enter the following link into your browser https://127.0.0.1:32400/web – this will only work with the machine on which you have installed your Plex server (127.0.0.1 refers to “localhost”).
This site cannot be reached again?
in which case… check if the server is actually running.
does it show up in the system tray?
no plex icon in the system tray. how do I check to see if the server is running? I thought my external hard drive was my server and if so i promise you it’s working fine, otherwise I have no idea where to find the server?
if there’s no icon in the tray, that means the server isn’t running (and hence you cannot access it).
you should find the Plex Media Server entry in your start menu
it worked of course, my computer did an update and must have shut it off. that was a whole lot of crap to find one little click, sorry for wasting your time and thank you.
np… most of the time it’s such tiny things which cause the biggest trouble
I did some pings. Are the target addresses correct?
