I have my Plex server on a My Cloud Home from WD. Last week, for some reason, none of my apps saw my server anymore. After fiddling with the settings, I saw no resolve so I disabled and enabled the server from the cloud.
Since then, the server is seen only when scanning my files and only on a browser. The Android or PC versions of Plex Media Player are just stuck in looking for a server.
My server and the last 2 are present in Authorized Devices, so they should be seen, yet nothing. After the scan, I cannot access my files in the web (browser) player either.
Sure. I have attached the logs to this message.
Did not check if they are different or not, but one is for the Web app and the other for the Player for Windows.Player for Windows log.txt (33.1 KB) Web app log.txt (101.1 KB)
I would really need some support on this. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I can’t be able to access and use my Plex. Practically I am paying this month for nothing.
As advised, I will add the latest log here. Can’t add anything from the server since none is created. I can’t find the server in any way and the web as well as Windows Player just actively search for one, even though I have done a clean re-configuration.
I have looked through the troubleshooting guide here but did not help. I have no VPN at least that I am aware of, no antivirus issues, and don’t use any kind of proxy. New Text Document.txt (1.1 KB)
Also, this is the immediate thing I get when I try to configure a newly created server from the device and the log right after. newly created.txt (1.3 KB)
@AndyGix
I’m both sorry to hear it’s ongoing and how I haven’t been around. Sometimes other people will jump in, but not yet I guess.
It’s important to keep in the back of our minds how the Plex.tv articles are an excellent source for fixing your system and also just setting it up. I’m simply suggesting things I’ve read there for the most part.
The article you mentioned above is one of the best places to start.
Thanks for the info about you have no VPN.
Is there any Antivirus or other security like ESET or anti malware?
Plex has a few places where you have to log in for it to work correctly, and those are disccused here
Off the top of my head, without looking at your logs yet, I’m thinking you’re at the step where you have to log out of everything, PMS, Player, and on Plex.tv, then log in to them again in the correct order. It’s as if some idiosyncrasy of that has tripped you up. The general order of things is in the first article, and is also explained in Installation:
As I’m a little rusty, I don’t have a 3 step recipe for fixing your setup, but hang in there, and we’ll get it sorted. I’m looking at your logs now.
@AndyGix looking through your logs, they are not the ones I was hoping to get.
Let’s start with some basics. I need the details of you LAN, where your PMS is located, the IP address and hardware, what computer your Plex Media Player is on, OS versions, etc so I can describe how to make basic connections to it and get logs etc.
If your PMS runs on a WD under some OS it offers, it probably has an IP address in the 192.168. address space. Let’s guess it’s at 192.168.1.100
If you then had Plex Media Player running on Windows or a Mac, you would get on the MAC and open up
Tell me what happens exactly when you open up that website. Screenshot anything it shows you. I’m trying to ascertain if it wants you to claim the server or just log into it.
The next steps will be logging into the PMS using that web URL or if necessary using the TLS version of that url, https://192.168.1.100:32400/web
Hello again. PMS stands for Plex Media Server.
When I asked about your LAN, I’m trying to understand if it’s all wired or partly wireless, how the computers and switches are connected, their IP addresses, how the internet comes into your home, the details about your internet router, things like that.
Normally computers on a private network use addresses ranging from
192.168.0.1 up through 192.168.255.254.
But you mentioned that your server is at 192.100.0.12. Would you explain that a bit more please?
I think the reachability problem you’re having is related to your local address.
Let me know. I’ll try to see your reply faster.
nibbles
My internet comes through an optical wire into a Huawei router mentioned above. The WD device on which the server is situated has a direct wired connection to the router.
All the devices in the network use a 192.168.100.x address type (made a mistake above, sorry).
The first one is where the server is located.
Ok I read your reply and saw your IP addresses there. Those all look good. To administer your PMS you need to use the 192.168.100.12 address as shown in your photo.
Use for my method above these addresses for steps #8 and #10 respectively:
Hi, I have managed to get the server up and running after my Nth try of restart and reconfiguration. Thanks for the help and pointers @nibbles.
But now I seem to have another issue. I can see my server and access what I have on it on my phone (Android device) but can’t see the server at all in the web player nor the Windows app.
Any idea why?
Andy, mabe nothing but have you checked other posts? I and others have been having problems not being able to connect locally or via the web to our servers, rollong back has worked for a few of us (1.17.0.1709 has worked for me…) - its just a thought…
Took a break in trying so solve the issue as I got too caught up in work and it seems the issue was solved. Not sure why and how, though. I opened my media player and the server was there and showing content.
Thanks to all that tried to help.
It’s sad I had to pay so many months without having proper access to the service. They should have a full support team for this, not a forum, since it’s faster and more professional.
