This just started happening to me. Only in Chrome browser window.
NOTE: I’m not refreshing anything…it just interrupts playback entirely. Again, i’m not refreshing anything…playback just gets this error.
Fix it…ASAP

This is the same issue I’m having off and on. I see it occur most frequently while doing a 12mbps transcode. It happens ~15-30 minutes almost without fail.
I’m the only user on my server reporting the issue however, other users are not reporting the same problems despite watching the same content and streaming settings.
As well, I believe I’m my only user on a web browser, everyone else is either on a roku/apple tv/ or tv os.
Developers are informed.
But there will probably no progress before Monday.
this happens without intervention from the user, the browser (chrome or firefox, or safari or android browser on mobile) refreshes it self every 20 or 30 seconds while on Plex.tv on version 4.123.2. it does this continuously, and simultaneously if you had all browsers open at once regardless of platform (PC, Mac, Mobile)
this behavior does not happen on devices like shield or roku or sony TV app.
during this strange refreshing, if one attempts to play anything one is presented with an error window.

Plex is basically unusable on browsers right now
Let me add this only appears to happen while in the admin account, switching to a managed account is stable and does not exhibit this repeated refreshing problem.
yeah same here web browser only all other devices are fine, roku, shield, etc
Can you verify that this does not happen on managed accounts. I logged off my admin account and logged in to one of my managed accounts and it is rock solid, no refreshing going on and able to play as normal.
Server Version#: 1.40.0.7998
Player Version#: 4.123.2
Browser chrome Version 121.0.6167.184 (Official Build) (arm64)
Same thing on Windows desktop app and web (firefox)
We appreciate you guys looking into it.
I upgraded to 1.40, and this started happening. I downgraded to the previous version 1.32 (I think) and it’s still happening. I’m gonna try and restore from backup later tonight.
Is anyone here experiencing this error who didn’t upgrade to 1.40?
Well, we wouldn’t have to refresh the browser if scrubbing wasn’t garbage and didn’t freeze with infinite loading when you want to jump positions.
Also, your response is totally unproductive and not aligned with how Plex works. When you refresh, it literally is a feature that it brings-back-up what you were watching.
You’re implying this is working as intended? Do you even use PleX?
Your cavalier disregard and snark to people is utterly unbecoming of an admin, and you’re trying to minimize people’s complaints who are reporting a legitimate problem that used to not be a problem, by reducing it to some distant idiom.
I was on 1.32.x up until today. I had this problem without upgrading. I’m certain something that wasn’t part of the server software changed in the last few weeks, and it’s making this happen.
I upgraded to see if it would resolve the problem, and it’s still a problem.
Firefox/Windows 10/Ubuntu Server
I see, judging that this problem seems to have started in the last 1-2 days, and Plex 1.40 was released in beta weeks ago, and released out of beta more than a week ago. If this was really related to Plex 1.40 then we should’ve seen reports about this weeks ago.
So something new is going on. I noticed that my plex web is Version 4.124.1.
I may have stumbled into a temporary fix. Disable auto-scanning libraries, or anything that updates your plex metadata. I noticed that the error was happening when a new file was detected, or Plex was scanning, and Plex would “refresh” the page to update with the new changes.
On my end, it stopped happening but I’d love to get some confirmation on this because this error is driving me crazy.
I think before doing some joke, Plex should test before release something, no ?
Same error here constantly on windows player(Plex-1.87.2.87), does appear to be related to scans on Plex server. Reverting back to Player plex-1-86-1-4076 has solved issue.
Seems to be client based issue not recent PMS at least on my end.
Can confirm, switching from admin to a managed account seems to stop this error from happening.
interesting thanks
I have problems which seem related also. No problem using local website but using the app.plex.tv. I get error
