Playback Error: Please visit our forums if you

Terramaster Plex: 1.32.8.7639

Playback on mobile devices (iPad, iPhone, android tablets) lags and buffers a few seconds every other minute.
Regardless of format (mp4, mpg, avi etc.) Have not tried mp3

This only started happening after the last update on Terramaster…

On Win 11 this error happens during playback on browser (edge) or winstore app.

I’m using Terramaster 210

I am currently torrenting movies and shows on NAS as well.

4 bay NAS has three in, 2 seagate, 1 WD

Started happening to me today. Windows PC to Windows PC. I restarted my router and switch, thinking it was a network issue. Win10 all around.

Also Started happening to me as well Playback Error on windows desktop. Coming from a Windows Server. Never had an issue until I updated to New Plex Media Server.

This must be from the last update then.
Now I know I don’t have to reinstall anything its on their end.
Thanks guys…

It’ll work on Win servers before TNAS.

patience. RIP Kodi

Others are getting this message too:

Another person experiencing these error messages (Win10)
One thing I’ve noticed since this PC update is the return of casting - casting hasn’t worked for me in a while (smart tv and chromecast).
Though, I don’t understand if the two are related (server is set to auto-update a week or two after a public release so I don’t know when the last time the server was updated)

Same issues and I’m using Kodi again lol.
I’ve downloaded Emby and I much much prefer Plex.

I will wait before I try out Jellyfin or whatever the free one is if Plex doesn’t get it together.

I don’t care about Plex streaming stuff I just really like the experience :frowning:

Running my Plex server from a Win10 box. Never had an issue like this before the latest update. Currently running version 1.40.0.7998 and get the Playback error randomly when watching from a browser. No issues running from a Roku TV.

Same playback issue here as well after last update. Something got broken!

Hopefully it will be corrected. Windows 10 client.

I’m having issues on every device I use on Wofi and nothing remotely. Yet.

It seems to happen the most to 4K which barely plays on anything now. 1080 problems and creases Plex on win 11.
I have a Fire TV (android?) and that barely works on anything over 720.

I have found playing 480p videos on Plex on a 2016 Samsung smart TV is smooth like butter.
I probably got these shows of Kazaa and haven’t deleted them yet

Playback for our server was fine until last hour or so, local and remote.

Remote access shows as active, no access however.

All good - signing out and back in on clients fixed the issue.

For any plex staff who sees this.

I too experience this, three times in the last 2 days. It’s random and when resuming play it starts again immediately. There is no crash, the play back just stops with an error. This is the first time I have ever got a playback error. Client for me each time was plex for linux version 1.87.2.87.xxxxx which is running on same the machine as plex server. Also, each time items being played are reported as direct play via the dashboard so no transcoding is happening.

Server version is 1.40.0.7998 on ubuntu 23.10, physical hardware. DB is fine, no corruption and is optimized.

I’m in the same boat. Made my own post before realizing you have a similar issue as mine. Here is my post:

And another set of threads here → "There was an unexpected error during playback" on all media (MacOS v1.87.2.87-87488d5a) and Plex for MAC constantly refreshing the UI

Did this. Somewhat helps.
The app works better on Windows than browser again.

And during this whole time NAS CPU usage is cranked with Plex scanning non stop.

I think they know they screwed up.

Stable and incredibly slow or doesn’t work at all and same error.

Fire TV unchanged.

iPad same.

Emby sucks, Kodi on the side.

I’ve signed out and back in with minimal to no change.

Now I’ve turned off ‘scan when changes’ and it was still bumpy and failed

I increased to cache from 40mb to 256mb because why not.

It’s working normal again so far…

Plex has too many worms in their series of tubes. They need to get bigger and better tubes before its too late and a better one that works comes out.

Dear Plex, I still want it to be you.

fix this garbage
make thumbnails animated gifs we can make/upload
add Streameast
add YouTube w/ uBlock
add adult movie $craper for studio/talent
This is all pirated content. We all got here the same way. Don’t ask to put this stuff on. Just do it.

Our relationship has weakened and I’m on the prowl because I can’t ever trust you again, Plex.

I fixed this! Works normal again on Win app, browser, iPad.

Turn off auto scan, make it scheduled.
Increase cache. I’m just leaving mine at 256mb. It could probably be much lower

Still have not had this error message or the playback issue.

Obviously many have but it isn’t an issue for everyone.

I do however run a small database and regularly clean it and maintain it. Half the material is gopro video and home video so database scanning is not frequent.

The server it runs on is also over the top in terms of hardware.

I have cache at default of 40 MB and auto scan for changes turned on.

Getting the same playback error issues as well with the new update. Never had this problem before. It’s getting really annoying. Not sure if it’s the Windows Plex Client or the Media Server update that’s causing the issue.
