I have a HDHomeRun Extend and set it to record in “Original format”. When I upgraded to 1.7.x, it started recording in .mkv, instead of .ts, even though my Extend is set to “Original format”. I had to downgrade back to 1.5.5 in order to get the DVR recordings to use the .ts format again. I use the .ts format, as it is easy to use an app called Smart Cutter to cut out commercials. It is much more difficult to do the same once a video has been converted to .mkv. Plex, will you be putting .ts recording back in PMS 1.7.x?
The original format transcode setting on the Extend just means it will not transcode the incoming stream before passing it out to the network for use by Plex or other devices. Plex then uses whatever stream it is provided for recording or Live TV. The change from ts to mkv was apparently to bring in the new Live TV feature. I seriously doubt Plex will be going back to the ts container.
I’m also now finding it difficult to edit the beginning and end off of recorded media since the update. Anyone have any suggestions? Can’t play video’s with 5.1 audio now either.
I use comskip. The script I use is available at http://github.com/tvinhas/adskip
I am very happy to see that the .ts format is now back, so I have now upgraded to version 1.8.
