I needed to nuke plex and start over as the updates just weren’t helping it’s stability. After doing so, my plex server will, for the life of me, not accept the previous double nat setup for remote access. Any ideas? The hardware never changed, just the plex reinstall.
All movies are stores on the same network and same server as plex as it’s a dedicated box with monster storage. Port forwarding all set and worked great prior to the reinstall of plex (to fix unstable build issue)
Easy thing to over look would be that you would have had a static IP setup before you reinstalled everything, is it still running on DHCP so the port forward is aimed at the wrong internal IP? Been there, done that one.
Another idea, if your using dhcp reservations perhaps you have multiple ethernet ports and plugged the cable back into the wrong one. Done this one before as well.
If you reinstalled Plex, you must tell it to actually use your manual port forwardings by
Settings - Server - Remote Access - ‘Manually specify public port’ <-- CHECK
and specify the public port number of the port forwarding on your internet-facing router device.
Do also verify that the port forwarding of the innermost router is still pointing to the right IP address, as @Nights0ng advised above.
Afterwards, test the functionality of the port forwardings using the canyouseeme.org website.
Disregard the status of the remote access that is shown inside of Plex for now.
Plex was reinstalled not the box. All static ip addresses were already set and still are and all forwarding still exists. DHCP doesnt exist on my network.
I went through and verified all static IPs are solid and all port forwarding was solid and it is. Manual port (plex remote access) is enabled and assigned it’s port and when it takes off it is FULLY AVAILABLE … for about 8 seconds and then claims it is now NOT AVAILABLE outside my network… therefore, it works for under 10 secs and then fails. What to do, what to do.
