Plex (without plexpass) and Android Auto is the worst - is it useable with plexpass?

All of the music I listen to is hosted on my Nvidia Shield pro Plex Media server - for years it has worked beautifully at home and remotely. Until trying Android Auto - the Plex integration is, IMO, useless as I’m only presented with the option of playing from a recently added or recently played list of artists (I rarely use playlists). I’d like to know, before I fork out the bread to upgrade my account, is the Android Auto situation improved with a plexpass? Any thoughts/advice from other users? I really don’t want to have to find an alternative as I really like everything else about Plex. Thank you in advance!

I use Plexamp all the time connected from my phone via Blue Tooth to my car (pre Android Auto/Apple Car Play) and my motorcycle helmets. No problems.

When traveling a few weeks ago, I had two different rentals (two different cities) with Android Auto. I am jealous. Not only did Plexamp work perfectly, the navigation from my android phone showed up on the car’s screen and was much easier to use. No complaints at all.

Thanks for the reply - to be clear was plexamp integrated into the Android Auto interface? Or were you using your phone as a media player?

Using Plexamp on my phone.
