Plex for Android Auto

The Plex app appears in Android Auto, but doesn’t seem to work. I just get a black screen with Plex at the top. Any idea how to get it to work?

I know Plexamp works fine in AA if you wan’t to playback music.

Last I checked Plex ran fine on AA. However, since I’m not an idiot trying to watch videos while driving, I just use Plexamp on AA. It works better anyway.

Note there has been some problems reported with AA and the new “Coolwalk” version of AA, especially if you’re on the beta program as I am. But an update fixed it IIRC.

It’s exhilarating driving 90 miles an hour, while watching your favorite show.

In all seriousness, it has more to do with it not working for me, then me wanting to use it. lol It exist, on Android Auto, but isn’t working, I just want to get it to work, purely because it exist there and it’s not working.

I use YouTube Music, Plexamp isn’t really needed.

I try to avoid paying for subscription services ('cept for Plex) and the YouTube Music free service really sucks.

I’ve been paying for it since it was Play Music. I really don’t have a personal selection of music anymore to be honest. So, I’d have nothing to load onto Plexamp. I paid for the life time Plex subscription almost 10 years ago.

Doesn’t YouTube Music allow you to download music?

Personally, running a large Plex server for several friends taught me, even before Plex, to store and curate my own stuff. When Jeff Beck recently died I downloaded all of his music. Now I have 16 Gigs of Jeff Beck.

Beside most new music nowadays sucks anyway so I only grab and listen to the good ■■■■. Maybe that’s because I’m a musician… YMMV
