I get an error on my LG G3 TV that “An error occurred displaying the current photo. This may be due to an insecure connection to the server.”
This issue is only occurring on my LG Smart TV. My Samsung TV and other devices display photos fine. I primarily want this functionality for the screensaver feature, which also does not work with photos due to error.
Attached screen captures of Photos library along with log. As you can see, thumbnails are there, but when you click an image, you get “An error occurred displaying the current photo. This may be due to an insecure connection to the server.” I only get this error on Plex client in WebOS. All other media (i.e. movies) work fine.
I have the same problem so bump. (Edit: Let me add that it works if I disable insecure connections, but why should I need to do that when the server is on the same network?)
I also have the exact same issue with my brand new LG B5 tv … I can see the photo thumbnails but the image files (jpeg) will not open (same error message as above) but strangely videos in the same folder play without any problems. When I run the Plex App through my Apple TV box there are no issues at all … my photos show up ! I’m sure the tech support at Plex will claim this is an LG issue and we should be contacting them. Any ideas anyone ?
I figured out what the root cause is here. Basically, the Plex app on LG only loads photos over HTTPS (secure) while video can be loaded on an insecure connection.
Fyi, I started using a Google TV box I have to run the plex app on instead of on the TV, that works a lot better.
