Plex won't install on QNAP

Suddenly have a problem with my QNAP TVS-1282. I can’t get Plex to upgrade or install. WQhen I wasn’t able to load the latest version and saw that my music library kept loading the same small number of artists I thought I would blast Plex and just install the latest version.

Ended up with the same issue. Plex just spins for ever in App Manager.

If I use the default version of Plex in the QNAP store I can get to install but then have to put up with persistent messages that there are updates to be had. I have run Plex successfully on this box for almost a year now with no problems until this one. I went from limited music to no media.

Anyone have some wisdom to share?

I am having the same issue with my 1282. I have noticed none of the past few updates will install even if I remove Plex and try to load just the latest version. The version that is on the app store will install but no updates after that.

This package (written by Dane22) will create a share which allows you to access the Plex logs manually (create a ZIP file) so we can look at them and find out what’s going wrong.

It’s great to have when PMS isn’t able to give you those same logs.

Just ZIP the Logs directory and attach it here.

This won’t install either. The install screen just spins and spins.

Then the problem is indeed QNAP.

You will likely need:

  1. Backup the configuration (Control Panel)
  2. Reinstall the firmware
  3. Reload the configuration from the backup

Recommend contacting QNAP for the tech support assist.

Thanks for the help. I figure that’s where I’d end up. Hoping I was wrong.

FYI

Rebuilt my TVS-1282 from scratch to see if I could resolve the app installation issues (Plex update, Emby, the tool you shared) even dropped all the volumes and storage pools, no change. Blew out 19TB of data just to end up where I started.

Just thought I’d share. I’ll put it to Qnap but don’t expect much.

if the volumes are still there, they can most likely be re-attached.

This is why I recommended asking QNAP.

I know the commands to reattach volumes (non-destructively) but those commands are not for me to show you. I would if I could.
